Mobile Phones
First broadcast January 2006

BBC World Service explores the influence of the mobile phone on living, health and safety, and how it changed the way we communicate.

There are over two billion mobile phones in use on this planet and that number is increasing every day.

The mobile phone is part of a worldwide revolution in telecommunications that is affecting every person on Earth, no matter how rich or poor.

Part 2 - Human behaviour and mobile phones

Nick Rankin looks at the software of human behaviour in relation to mobile phones, and how the devices have managed to blur the boundaries of private and public, real and virtual.

Voices from Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe tell stories that show that every culture has adapted the mobile phone to its own needs and desires.
