Mobile networks scrap unlimited data plans for smartphones

Mobile phone networks in the US are starting to introduce caps on data plans for smartphones such as the iPhone.

AT&T, the exclusive carrier for Apple's phone in America, has had an 18-fold rise in the use of wireless data over the past three years.

Ian Hardy finds out how restrictions could affect manufacturers releasing increasingly powerful handsets and developers who will have to produce less data-hungry applications.
