  • Michael Bond

  • Breakfast spoke to the creator of Paddington Bear as he celebrates the bear's 50th anniversary. A new series of Paddington Bear story books will be in the shops from Monday, 2nd June.

  • I'd do anything...

  • The three winning Olivers from the BBC's talent show, I'd Do Anything were on the sofa today. Gwion, Laurence and Harry told Breakfast about their joy at winning the lead part in the forthcoming West End musical, Oliver.

  • Alistair McGowan

  • The actor had taken over the role of Emcee in the award-winning revival of Cabaret at the Lyric Theatre in London. The role was previously played by Julian Clary.

  • Phill Jupitus
    The comedian makes his West End debut in "Lifecoach" which receives its West End premiere at Trafalgar Studios 2 from May 20 to June 14.

  • Minding your Money
    In the last of our Minding Your Money series, Gary Webster, the former Minder star, has been investigating the joy of getting something for nothing.

  • Cal Macaninch
    Cal plays Detective Inspector John Keenan in Holby Blue. Tonight is the penultimate episode of the series, shown at 8.00pm tonight on BBC One.

  • Petula Clark
    The UK's most successful female recording artist ever releases a collection of her greatest hits and new tracks, 'Then And Now - The Very Best of Petula Clark' on June 16th.

    Ralf takes the starring role in the new British film 'The Waiting Room'.

  • Minding your money
    In the first of a new Breakfast series, former Minder actor Gary Webster gives his personal story of knows what it's like to go have money problems having gone bankrupt and had his home repossessed. Since then he has written a book on debt offering advice on surviving financial crisis

  • Elizabeth portrait
    A rare portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth I has been discovered in a private collection at Boughton House in Northamptonshire

  • Christopher Timothy
    The actor is currently starring in the play Quartermaine's Terms, which is currently touring the UK. This week the play is on a Windsor's New Victoria, then will move on to The Richmond Theatre, the Theatre Royal, Bath and the Theatre Royal, Brighton

  • Springwatch
    The three week series which is coming from Pensthrope in Norfolk for the first time starts on Monday at 8.00pm on BBC Two

  • Eurovision
    The 53rd Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday with Andy Abrahams representing the UK. It will be shown at 8.00pm on BBC One

  • Jean-Christophe Novelli
    On this evening's Tonight on ITV1, Celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli investigates just how pressurised life in the hospitality industry really is. The Real Hell's Kitchen is shown this evening at 8.00pm

  • Spelling
    According to The Spelling Society we Brits are not very good at spelling. Of 1,000 people tested, more than half got "embarrassed" wrong, a quarter couldn't spell "separate" and "definitely" stumped more than a third

  • Julie Walters
    Julie Walters stars in Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story, to be shown on BBC Two on Wednesday 28 May at 9.00pm

  • Green Cars
    It's the 'Sexy Green Car' show at the Eden Project, where the main car manufacturers are all showing off cars that are greener than conventional vehicles.

  • Hugh Bonneville
    Staring in 'Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story'. Hugh plays BBC Director General, Sir Hugh Carleton-Green.

  • Amy Macdonald
    Her album has now gone double platinum and is fast approaching sales of one million in the UK. And she is out to take on the task of breaking America. Amy will be touring all the way through the summer at gigs including The Isle of Wight Festival, Chelmsford and Stafford V Festival.

  • Penelope Wilton
    Penelope Wilton returns to the Donmar Warehouse to play Miss Madrigal, in The Chalk garden. The first major London revival of the play in thirty years. From the 5 June - 2 August 2008 at the Donmar Warehouse, London.

  • Genesis
    The Turn It On Again tour saw Genesis, play together for the first time in fifteen years. The final concert is now being released on DVD featuring Genesis classics such as 'Land Of Confusion' and 'Mama' to older Genesis repertoire 'Los Endos', 'Carpet Crawlers' and the haunting 'Ripples'.

    The Development Organisation of Rural Sichuan is one of many charities trying to raise money for the earthquake victims in China

  • Chelsea Flower Show
    The Chelsea Flower Show opens to the public tomorrow and runs until 24 May. This year promises to be the greenest yet with measures such as a ban on patio heaters

  • Duffy
    The Welsh singer songwriter's new single Warwick Avenue is released Monday 26th May. Her debut album is called Rockferry

  • Great British Menu
    The competition has reached a new stage as the seven final chefs arrive in London to cook their complete menu for the judges. Great British Menu is shown weekdays at 6pm on BBC Two

    Niamh Perry was the eigth Nancy to be voted off I'd Do Anything last night

  • Noise mapping

  • The Government will be launching online noise maps of 23 urban areas in England. The maps are based on assessments of road, rail, air and industry volumes and show the noisiest parts of these cities.

  • Cancer hero

  • Since her appearance on Breakfast last Monday, Kate has been inundated with requests for help. Today, she is back in the studio talking about what she plans to do next.

  • Neil Oliver

  • Neil's new book 'Amazing tales for making men out of boys' is out now. It tells real life stories of heroes that should inspire comradeship, friendship and bravery.

  • Sandi Thom

  • The Scottish singer-songwriter is releasing her second album The Pink and the Lily, and her single, The Devil's Beat.

  • Ruthie Henshall

  • The actress stars as the lead role in the brand new musical, Marguerite. The show, which opened at the beginning of May at The Haymarket, is a romantic, obsessive story set in Occupied Paris.

  • vCJD

  • Feed the birds

  • Feeding birds is hugely beneficial, but bread, whilst not actually harmful, has none of the nutrients they need. Better options are household scraps such as cooked rice, cheese, veg and biscuit crumbs.

  • Cattle Market

  • A 130-year-old cattle market site is under threat after a council claimed it was too noisy. The Darlington Farmers Auction Market has appealed against a notice served by Darlington Borough Council.

  • Freud painting

  • Sue Tilley, the subject of the most expensive painting ever to be sold by a living artist, is on the sofa this morning.

  • Sheryl Crow

  • The multiple Grammy Award winning singer songwriter will be hitting the UK shores on June 28th to play alongside John Mayer and Eric Clapton at the Hard Rock Calling 2008 show at Hyde Park.

  • Bobby Vee

  • The 50's and 60's wonderboy was in the studio as he releases his "Very Best Of" album. Known for hits such as "Rubber Ball" and "Take Good Care of My Baby", Bobby has had a career spanning over 40 years.

  • Music

  • Listening to just 30 minutes of '"rhythmically homogeneous music" every day may significantly reduce high blood pressure, according to new research. Dr Rosemary and music therapist, Ben Saul told us more.

  • UFOs

  • For the first time, The National Archives is making eight Ministry of Defence files relating to UFOs available to the public. These are the first files to be released by the MoD and could hold the answer to a lot of unexplained British sightings in recent history.

  • Jenny Agutter

  • The actress was on the sofa talking about her latest role in the new BBC One crime drama, The Invisibles as well as about her varied career. You can catch Jenny in The Invisibles tomorrow at 9pm.

  • Bill met the singer as he embarks on his world tour. Neil comes to the UK in June and ends the tour this October in Florida.

  • Beth Rowley

  • Beth Rowley's second single 'So Sublime' was released yesterday. It is set to be a big hit this summer.

  • Curry

  • Scotland lays claim to one of Britain's most popular dishes, Chicken Tikka Masala. But this famous dish has a new rival, the Chicken Chasni. TV chef, Manju Malhi compared the two curries.

  • Cancer drugs: how to appeal

  • We're hearing the story of how one woman's campaign for better cancer treatment, following the death of her mother. Kate Spall's website is named after her mother, Pamela Northcott.   • Macari's Musical Instruments is one of the oldest guitar shops in London. Within two days of stocking "The Beast" guitar, the instrument was sold. Anthony Macari spoke to us about these rare and extremely sought after guitars.

  • The actress is about to appear in a new play on knife crime in the West End. The Long Road, commissioned by the Synergy Theatre Project, works with offenders and ex offenders through the medium of theatre, with the aim of rehabilitating them.

    Gordon Ramsay has told the BBC that there should be a tax on British restaurants who sell out of season food. His new series of The F Word is shown on Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 4

    Older drivers are being encouraged to check whether their driving skills are still sharp enough using a test developed by the University of East Anglia

    The Sheffield rockers are back with a new album 'Song from the Sparkle Lounge' and are preparing for a UK tour with Whitesnake

    The actress and former dancer is starring as Mrs Pearce in Pygmalion, Bernard Shaw's enduring classic, which started this week at the Old Vic

  • Neighbours
    David Sillito looks at the best bits of this weeks 'Neighbours' series and is in Wall Heath in the West Midlands which claims to be one of Britain's friendliest streets

    New research has found that UK households throw away £10 billion of unwanted food every year, an average of £420 per family. Polly Russell and Zoe Heron discussed methods to reduce food wastage at home and with chef Rosie Sykes have written a book on the subject, The Kitchen Revolution

    Having cancelled all his UK concert dates last year due to a popped cyst on the vocal chord, the singer is back to finish the 'Casa de Carne Tour'

    There are growing calls for more information to be given to parents about a controversial chemical called Bisphenol A or BPA which is found in some plastic baby bottles. American scientists say it could cause behavioural changes in infants and children and trigger the early onset of puberty in females

    The Defence Secretary Des Browne will confirm today that the Armed Forces Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court in Surrey will receive a cash injection of £24m

    The 1980s spin-off of police drama Life On Mars is now available on DVD
