The search for a new Billy Elliot
11 to 14 and a good singer and dancer? It could be you
The film Billy Elliot was a huge success in 2000 telling the story of a boy from a gritty northern town who was determined to be a dancer.

And now the film is to be made into a West End stage show which will feature music by Elton John.

Director Stephen Daldry is looking to cast the lead character Billy and his best friend Michael.

    "Because of child labour laws, we actually need three Billies - and they will need replacing every six months," he explained.

    "So the audition process is like painting the Forth Bridge."

    Young hopefuls need to be male, aged between 11 and 14, and able to sing, dance and act.

    Music for the new stage version of Billy Elliot has been written by Elton John. The production is expecte to open this Autumn.

    Working Title and Old Vic Productions are casting for Billy Elliot the musical.

    This is what the company is looking for:

  • Boys aged 11 to 14 to play the roles of Billy and Michael in the West End production
  • All boys must be able to dance, sing and act brilliantly
  • Your voice must not have broken
  • There will be three open auditions in the following places:

    London - Sunday 8 February

    London School of Musical Theatre,
    83 Borough Road,
    SE1 1DN

    (Nearest tube - London Bridge/Borough/Waterloo)

    Glasgow - Saturday 21st February

    Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama,
    100 Renfrew Street,
    G2 3DB

    You may be required to return on Sunday for a recall

    Nottingham - Sunday 29th February

  • Time for all venues

    0900 to register, after that you will be given a time for your group

  • You must bring:

    A recent photo, plenty to drink and lots of energy! Come ready to dance then, if lucky, sing. You do not have to prepare anything as the production team will teach you all you need.
