A new look for Breakfast
BBC Breakfast with Dermot Murnaghan and Natasha Kaplinsky
Breakfast's new look is brighter
From 0600 on Monday morning, Breakfast has had a new look on week-day mornings. Our Deputy Editor ZoŽ Barnes explains why we decided to re-vamp our set

Now, don't ever tell us that we don't listen ...

Margaret Oswald from Heathfield was just one of thousands of you who sent us comments like this:

"Please could you do something about the awful flower arrangements and pots behind the presenters of Breakfast. They really look dreadful."

"Improve the togetherness," you told us, "the flowers create a gulf between presenters

Far from being offended - we decided to do a bit of research ourselves and travelled around the country talking to those of you, who regularly tune in to watch BBC One Breakfast.

Furniture really does matter

Our focus groups told us a bit more about what you want.

First of all you said you want the news, weather and live reports. But you also said it matters to you who is presenting the programme, and what the furniture looks like.

"Improve the togetherness," you told us, "the flowers create a gulf between presenters." Others of you said you wanted the Breakfast set to feel contemporary, clean and warm.

You may have noticed we've made a few other changes to Breakfast over the last couple of years.

Those vases just had to go

We moved the presenters out from behind their desk, because we want you to feel more comfortable watching us.

At Breakfast, we don't just want to "deliver the news". In fact we like it when you talk back to us, so we know what you care about, and are thinking. So, we hope you like the new set, which you can see from first thing on Monday morning.

It's the creation of designer, Chris Webster who also came up with the set for the One, Six and Ten o'clock news, as well as Newsnight. Not a flower in sight you'll notice.

Bill and Sian say farewell..
to Breakfast's old set
