A German-owned software company is to expand its Londonderry research and development centre.

InVision Software Ltd has said it will employ 60 people at the Northland Road site by 2012, with 10 extra people already being recruited.

The firm, in Derry since 2001, currently employs 40 people. Invest Northern Ireland has offered £251,000 funding towards the project.

Operations director Stephen Williams said the centre was a strong performer.

"In the current climate, our products are rapidly increasing in demand as more firms seek to reduce personnel costs, increase productivity and boost revenue," he said.

"With many customers realising just how vital effective workforce management can be in reducing costs, demand for our unique portfolio of products has soared, particularly in Europe and the US."

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said the expansion was an endorsement of the "right mix of infrastructure, skills and support to attract and retain quality investment" available in the region.

"InVision is precisely the type of innovative company that we are targeting for investment and reinvestment, with its specialised development activities in the IT sector and its commitment to providing high quality career opportunities," she said.
