A National Express coach from Birmingham to Stansted Airport overturned as it entered Newport Pagnell services on the M1 at about 1600BST on Monday.
The bus hit a lamppost and a tree just after leaving the motorway's southbound carriageway in Buckinghamshire. John Fearnside took this picture of the scene.
There were 33 passengers on board. Thirty were injured, six seriously. Staff at the Welcome Break service station gave first aid as they waited for ambulances to arrive.
Three air ambulances were called to the scene. John Fearnside saw this police helicopter take off to make space for paramedics to land.
Simon Seymour-Griffiths looked on as fire crews used cutting equipment to free passengers and the driver. Others on board escaped through one of the coach's skylights.
Police later arrested the coach driver on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.
