Iran launches satellite

Iran has launched its first domestically made satellite, the Omid, into orbit - marking 30 years since the Revolution.

The Omid is designed for research and telecommunications and Iran has stressed the satellite is for peaceful purposes.

The satellite was launched with Iran's own long-range ballistic technology which can be used for launching weapons.

Jon Leyne reports from Tehran.
