Jiri Nemec
The Czech captain and most experienced player in the squad, Nemec - like Radek Bejbl - adds some strength and steel to complement the skill and subtlety of the more talented players in the side.
He first rose to prominence during the 1990 World Cup, and went on to play every game in Euro 96 and all ten qualifiers for Euro 2000.
This summer he's expected to be used as a link-man between defence and midfield, although just one goal in 64 appearances suggests he might leave the shooting to Berger and co.
A former Czech Player of the Year, he plays his club football in Germany with Schalke, a team he helped to Uefa Cup success three years ago.
