Ferris Bueller star denies porn charges
Jeffrey Jones
Jones has had roles in about 50 films and TV shows
Jeffrey Jones, the US actor facing child porn charges, says he wants "the truth to come out".

Jones, best known for his role as the principal in the hit 1980s film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, broke his silence after being charged on Thursday.

"All I want is for the truth to come out and for this matter to be resolved as quickly as possible," he said.

The 55-year-old actor is charged with using a minor for sex acts and a misdemeanour count of possessing child pornography.

Jones allegedly tried to hire a 14-year old to pose for sexually explicit pictures.

If convicted, he could face up to three years in jail and be on a sex offenders' register for the rest of his life.

His lawyer, Jeffrey Brodey, said the actor was "pleased that the matter finally has come to court."
Peewee Herman actor Paul Reubens
Paul Reubens has also appeared in court on child pornography charges

"After meeting with the prosecution and the police department, it's our belief and hope that this matter will be very quickly resolved," the attorney said.

Jones spoke to reporters outside a Los Angeles courthouse where his initial appearance before a judge had been postponed until 9 January.

He said he had co-operated with police from the beginning of their investigations.

The charges relate to a search of his house last year. It was linked to a warrant issued against Pee-wee Herman star Paul Reubens.

Reubens was also separately charged last week with a misdemeanour count of possessing child pornography.

As well as his role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Jones has also appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice, Ed Wood and Sleepy Hollow, and has also featured in thriller The Hunt For Red October and children's film Stuart Little.

Reubens' career as comic character Pee-wee Herman was severely damaged when he was convicted for exposing himself in an adult cinema in 1991.
