A tow firm employee has been jailed on charges of crashing a $311,000 (215,358) Lamborghini Diablo destined for rap star Missy Elliott.

Joseph Thomas Johnson took the car for a joyride while the company he worked for was transporting the brand new sports car to Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Henrico County police said the man took the car for a drive but hit a speed limit sign before smashing into a tree, three miles from his firm's headquarters.
