Popstars group Hear'Say are set to hold talks this week following reports that Kym Marsh is to quit the band and go solo.

The 25-year-old has left the band after a series of flare-ups with band-mate Myleene Klass, The Sun newspaper reported.

But a spokesman for record company Polydor told BBC News Online that Marsh had not walked out on the band.

"Everybody who is involved with Hear'Say will be sitting down this week to discuss the future.

Danny Foster, Noel Sullivan, Suzanne Shaw, Klass and Marsh shot to fame as the winners of ITV1 show Popstars last year, which plucked the quintet from obscurity and launched their pop careers.

The band's first single, Pure and Simple, was a runaway number one success and their album also claimed the top spot.

Yet the band has been dogged by rumours and speculation about a split for several months.

In December last year bookmaker William Hill named Hear'Say as the pop group most likely to split in the wake of Steps' demise.

Reports of tension between Marsh and Klass have been persistent for many weeks yet the pair have denied the stories on several occasions during television interviews.

The newspaper quotes Marsh as telling a friend that she would like to put her own band together and write her own songs.

Pop Idol

It added that she told a friend that she did not "regret going on Popstars or being part of Hear'Say".

On Monday, the Daily Star newspaper reported that Pop Idol reject Rosie Ribbons was being lined up to replace Kym in the band.

The Swansea singer was ejected from ITV's search for a solo singer on Saturday and is also said to be in talks with record producer Pete Waterman.

The Sun reports that the four other members of Hear'Say are being urged to continue without a fifth member.
