Apprentice loser to host TV show

Kate Walsh
Kate Walsh battled her way to The Apprentice final

Apprentice finalist Kate Walsh is to co-present a news magazine show on Five, the broadcaster has announced.

Walsh, 27, who lost out to Yasmina Siadatan for the top job, will join ex-footballer Ian Wright and Melinda Messenger on Live From Studio Five.

The programme is scheduled to start next month in an early evening slot and is branded "forthright and chatty".

Walsh has hosted a women's fashion segment on GMTV since being rejected by Alan Sugar - now Lord Sugar - in June.

The show will feature location reports, interviews and discussion pegged to the day's news stories.

Walsh said that becoming part of the presenting team was "an exhilarating and thrilling challenge", adding: "I can't wait to get stuck into daily live TV."

Five controller Richard Woolfe said other broadcasters' approach to early evening TV was "totally predictable" and the new format would "put Five on the map".
