Fawcett to have private funeral

Fawcett was best known for her role in Charlie's Angels

A private funeral for actress Farrah Fawcett will be held on Tuesday, it has been announced.

The service will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles at 1600 local time, church officials said.

The actress died on Thursday aged 62 after losing a three-year battle with anal cancer.

Her illness was chronicled in a US TV documentary, Farrah's Story, which was broadcast earlier this year.

The star became a 1970s icon after appearing in the US TV series Charlie's Angels.

She declared herself cancer-free four months after originally being diagnosed with cancer in September 2006, only to have the disease return in May 2007.

Her death came just days after actor Ryan O'Neal, Fawcett's partner since 1982, revealed they would finally get married, but the pair never got the chance to exchange vows.

The couple have one son together, Redmond.
