Beatles songs used in video game

The Beatles have sold more albums in the United States than any other band

The Beatles' songs are to feature in a video game for the first time.

The band's music will appear in an untitled game by creators of the Rock Band series, MTV Games and Harmonix.

The game, which was produced with input from Beatles stars Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, is due to be released sometime next year.

"The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music," said former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.

"How wonderful that The Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerised world we live in," said former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.

"Let the games commence," he added.

The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful bands in the history of popular music.

After the band broke up in 1970, all four members embarked upon solo careers.
