Carmen runs at the English National Opera until 23 November
Popular opera Carmen is to be streamed on BBC Radio 3's website, the first time a UK opera house has offered a complete production online.

The broadband video stream from the English National Opera (ENO) production will go live on Saturday, 3 November.

Opera fans will be able to see the production from all angles, including from behind the stage.

Radio 3 controller Roger Wright said the station wanted to use technology to "give audiences a richer experience".

The video stream will be available online for seven days after the event.

ENO artistic director, John Berry, said it would give more people "the opportunity to sample ENO's bold and adventurous work".

The production, which is currently in rep at the London Coliseum, is directed by film-maker Sally Potter.

It received mixed reviews in the press when it opened at the end of September.
