Brooklyn celebrates first birthday
David and Brooklyn Beckham
Baby Brooklyn arrives for his party
Spice baby Brooklyn Beckham has celebrated his first birthday, attracting the media attention usually reserved for his celebrity parents.

Reporters and cameramen gathered outside the Cottons Hotel in Knutsford, Cheshire to witness Spice Girl Victoria and Manchester United player David Beckham mark their special day.

Security officers were stationed in the grounds of the hotel as the couple arrived with their child, dressed in a red bomber jacket.

Mr and Mrs Beckham had arranged numerous entertainers for the extravagant party, reported to have cost 10,000, including a magician, a face-painter and four clowns.

And the couple did not allow the day's festivities to be overshadowed by hotly denied rumours of a growing rift between Beckham and Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.

When asked what the couple had bought their son David Beckham replied: "I have bought him a few bits and bobs."

Victoria said: "We have got him lots of toys."

Asked what she thought of the party room, which was decorated on a circus theme, she added: "It looks fantastic in there."

Among the guests were Spice Girl Mel B and Baby Spice Emma Bunton, along with Scary Spice's baby Phoenix Chi.

Beckham's team-mates Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, and Denis Irwin and his three children, Liam, seven, Lauren, four, and Katie, two, also turned up.

Others included former United player Mark Hughes, current goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw and Ryan Giggs.
