Baby girl for 'Scary Spice' Mel B

Mel B has pursued singing and acting since the Spice Girls split
Former Spice Girl Mel B has given birth to her second child, a baby girl, in Los Angeles, her spokeswoman has said.

"The baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair," she said. "No name has been decided on as yet, and she is purely known as Baby Brown."

Mel B, real name Melanie Brown, now faces a paternity battle with her former partner, actor Eddie Murphy.

The Hollywood star has told reporters he will demand a paternity test to prove the child is not his.

Murphy, who received an Oscar nomination this year for his role in Dreamgirls, was asked by a TV interviewer in December if he was excited that Brown was pregnant.

Public dispute

"Now you're being presumptuous because we're not together any more," he replied.

"And I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

Brown, 31, issued a statement saying she was "upset and distressed" at the actor's comments.

"I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way," she said.

Brown already has an eight-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi, by ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar.

Her new daughter shares her birthday with Murphy.
