Jarvis to curate Meltdown event
Former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has been named artistic director of this year's Meltdown festival at London's Southbank Centre, to be held in June.

The singer will be the 14th artist to curate the performance arts event since it began in 1993.

Cocker said he was "honoured, proud and excited" to be involved, adding "he can't wait" to get started.

Rock singer Patti Smith directed the last event in 2005, before the Royal Festival Hall shut for refurbishment.
