Remix puts Leo Sayer back on top
Leo Sayer in 1978
Leo Sayer had 10 UK Top 10 hits between 1973 and 1982
Seventies pop star Leo Sayer has swept to the top of the UK singles chart - 29 years after his last number one.

A dance remix of his 1977 song Thunder In My Heart has gone straight to the top of the chart. Sayer has described his comeback as "a lovely miracle".

The song, which only reached number 22 when it was originally released, has been reworked by a DJ called Meck.

It has replaced Notorious BIG, P Diddy and Nelly, who were at number one for three weeks with Nasty Girl.

Sayer, 57, had 10 UK Top 10 singles between 1973 and 1982.

His last appearance in the charts came when another dance remix of one of his biggest hits, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, reached number 32 in 1998.

The Ordinary Boys, led by Celebrity Big Brother star Preston, have stayed at number three with Boys Will Be Boys, while US teenage R&B prodigy Chris Brown is at four with Run It.

Another Big Brother personality, Pete Burns, has remained at number five with a re-release of the 1985 hit You Spin Me Round by his band Dead Or Alive.

In the albums chart, the Arctic Monkeys have held James Blunt off the top spot, with Richard Ashcroft in third place.

The highest new entry is indie band Belle & Sebastian's eighth studio album, The Life Pursuit, at number eight.
