ITV4 has a 15m budget
ITV has announced it will launch ITV4 - its new digital channel aimed at men - in November.

The service will complement the female demographic of ITV2 and the older audience of ITV3.

It will be aimed primarily at males aged 22-45 and is likely to be broadcast in the new Freeview service slot that the network won in April.

ITV4 will start broadcasting on 1 November - exactly a year since ITV3 launched with 500,000 viewers.

US shows

ITV3 features films and re-runs from dramas such as Miss Marple, the Chancer and Inspector Morse. It is aimed at an over-35 audience.

ITV network chief Mick Desmond told Broadcast magazine last month that a 15m budget has been set aside for ITV4.

He also said the service will "compete head to head with channels using a high proportion of US acquisitions like Sky One, Channel 4 and Five".

ITV4 will become the broadcaster's fourth presence on digital, alongside ITV2, 3 and the ITV News channel.
