Piglet cartoon voice actor dies
John Fiedler
John Fiedler voiced Piglet for more than 35 years
John Fiedler, who voiced Piglet in the Winnie the Pooh films, has died of cancer aged 80, a day after the death of Paul Winchell, who voiced Tigger.

His last outing as Piglet was in the 2005 film Pooh's Heffalump Movie.

As well as being behind Piglet since 1968, Fiedler was also a veteran of stage, screen and television.

He appeared in True Grit, starring John Wayne, and A Touch of Mink with Cary Grant, as well as featuring in sci-fi TV hit Star Trek.

Piglet was one of Pooh's best friends

Other screen credits include playing Mr Peterson in The Bob Newhart Show and in the movie The Odd Couple and its TV spin-off.

Military service

He appeared in two movie versions of A Raisin in the Sun, in 1961 alongside Sidney Poitier, and playing the same character in a 1989 TV remake.

Born in Platteville in Wisconsin, Fiedler served in the Navy in the Second World War. On completing his military service he moved to New York.

Voice actor Paul Winchell, who died on Friday, had voiced Tigger in Pooh movies since the 1968 film Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day.

Winchell also voiced Gargamel in The Smurfs and Boomer in The Fox and the Hound, as well as voicing other Disney and Hanna-Barbera productions.
