The family of film star Zsa Zsa Gabor has gone to court over claims that her only daughter forged her signature to claim $2m (1.1m).

The 88-year-old and her ninth husband Frederick Prinz von Anhalt contest that Francesca Hilton committed elder abuse, fraud and emotional distress.

It is alleged Ms Hilton used the money to secure a loan on Gabor's $14m (7.7m) home in Bel Air.

The judge has scheduled hearings in the case to begin later this month.

Gabor's husband claims that his step-daughter manipulated her mother to gain access to her will in March, and was worried that she would not be left anything.

Hungarian-born Gabor has been paralysed since being involved in a car accident three years ago, and is said to be in poor mental health.

Her second marriage to hotel magnate Conrad Hilton produced her only child.

The Hollywood actress, once famed for her glamour and beauty, is great-aunt to reality television star Paris Hilton.

Mr Von Anhalt, who has been married to Gabor for 19 years and looks after her in their Hollywood mansion, said Gabor is "furious" at her daughter's actions.

Their home, overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, was once owned by Elvis Presley.

Ms Hilton claims that she took out the loan with her mother's permission
