Pop star Kylie Minogue began her greatest hits world tour with a concert in Scotland on Saturday.

The Australian singer is playing five dates at Glasgow's SECC Arena among the 23 UK dates on her Showgirl tour.

After Europe, Australia and Far East dates the tour will end with a headline appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.

"This tour is not only a celebration of pop songs, and of my career, but also of a long-term relationship with my audience," she said.

The show features a 1m Art Deco-inspired stage set and feathered head-dresses from The Lido in Paris.

Designers Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano and Julien McDonald have contributed stage outfits for the tour.

Minogue's pop career has lasted 17 years and she has had a total of 38 hit singles in the UK since her first chart-topper I Should Be So Lucky in January 1988.

After Glasgow, she will perform in Birmingham and Manchester before playing seven nights at London's Earl's Court Arena.
