WestLife topple boss Ronan
WestLife at No 1
Irish quintet unseat manager Keating from top slot
Irish popsters WestLife have charted their second number one - ousting their manager, Boyzone's Ronan Keating, from the top slot.

The success of If I Let You Go makes the quintet the only boy band to have had consecutive number ones with their first two singles.

The group have already rewritten the record books in Ireland - where Swear It Again became the fastest selling debut single in its first week out.

Ronan Keating
Ronan "happy" to be pushed from No 1
"I couldn't be happier to be knocked off by WestLife," said Ronan Keating.

The 22-year-old singer, who co-manages the band, had enjoyed a two-week reign at the top of the charts with When You Say Nothing At All.

The hit single was the first solo effort by a member of the hugely successful band Boyzone.

"They have got the potential to go very far," predicted Keating earlier this year - a view vindicated by this latest hit.

WestLife held off strong competition for number one from Bran Van 3000 - whose single Drinking In LA features in a current beer commercial.

Boyzone have the musical midas touch
"They are completely delighted," said a spokeswoman for the boy band, "everyone will be celebrating with them and for them."

"Ronan seems to have handed the baton to his proteges," suggested chart expert Simon Winter of the HMV chain.

However, Keating and the rest of Boyzone cannot be written off yet. The boy band veterans still head the album charts with their greatest hits collection, By Request.

Boyzone's Stephen Gately
Gately - a serious contender for No 1
The group's Stephen Gately could also soon enjoy solo success. He is set to release a single taken from the new animated version of Watership Down, for which the singer also voices a character.

Keating has his own TV projects - he recently hosted a talent show series on BBC One caled Get Your Act Together.
