Cash biopic gets Toronto premiere
Joaquin Phoenix
Joaquin Phoenix plays late country star Johnny Cash in Walk the Line
Walk the Line, a biopic about the life of country singer Johnny Cash starring Joaquin Phoenix, has been added to the line-up at Toronto film festival.

Sir Anthony Hopkins in The World's Fastest Indian will also debut, as will Charlize Theron's North Country and Mrs Harris, starring Sir Ben Kingsley.

Neil Jordan's Breakfast on Pluto will also be screened.

The festival in September is fast becoming a launch pad for Oscar contenders and key autumn releases.

It is expected to complete its line-up by the end of August.

Other world premieres include a new British version of Tristram Shandy starring Steve Coogan and the family drama Bee Season starring Richard Gere.

The event will also showcase the North American launches of Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown, Steven Soderbergh's Bubble and Tim Burton's animated feature Corpse Bride.

As previously announced, the festival will screen Gwyneth Paltrow's Proof, Ang Lee's gay cowboy drama Brokeback Mountain and the new film version of Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley.

It will open with Water, a controversial film about the lives of Hindu widows that triggered violent protests while being shot in India.

The Toronto Film Festival runs from 8 to 17 September.
