Minnelli treated after bed fall
Liza Minnelli
Liza Minnelli won an Oscar for her lead role in 1972's Cabaret
Actress Liza Minnelli is being treated in hospital after falling out of bed at her Manhattan home.

The 58-year-old was taken to New York Hospital early on Monday morning, New York Police Department spokesman Sgt Gerry Falcon said.

A spokesperson for the actress declined to comment.

The daughter of actress Judy Garland and movie director Vincente Minnelli, Liza Minnelli won an Oscar for her lead role in 1972's Cabaret.

Court action

She separated from her fourth husband, David Gest, in July 2003.

In November, Minnelli was sued by her former bodyguard M'Hammed Soumayah, who accused her of assault and battery and claimed she made him have sex with her to keep his job.

Gest sued Minnelli last year for $10m (5.15m), alleging that she had beaten him so badly that he suffered extensive head injuries.

Minnelli has countersued both Gest and Soumayah.
