Actor Douglas renews wedding vows
Anne and Kirk Douglas
Anne and Kirk Douglas married in Las Vegas in 1954
Hollywood star Kirk Douglas, the father of actor Michael, re-affirmed his wedding vows with wife Anne after 50 years in a ceremony on Sunday.

They renewed the vows they had first made in 1954 - when they eloped to Las Vegas - in a Beverley Hills mansion.

"The two met in Paris. She was here on a visa and was about to go back. He didn't want to take a chance of losing her," publicist Warren Cowan said.

Guests included former First Lady Nancy Reagan and actor Dan Aykroyd.

Also among the 300 guests were Merv Griffin, Tony Curtis, Angie Dickinson and Lauren Bacall.

As Anne, 74, walked down the red carpet, the band switched from playing the traditional Wedding March to the song Love and Marriage.

Special song

Douglas, the 87-year-old star of films such as Spartacus and The Heroes of Telemark, walked along to the song I'm in the Mood for Love.

He later sang a song he had especially written for the event, called Please Stay in Love with Me.

The pair married in 1954 when Kirk took a day off from filming the classic film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

The couple's son Peter attended the wedding vows with his family, but Michael - Kirk's son from his earlier marriage - was unable to attend.

He is currently in Europe with wife Catherine Zeta Jones, who is shooting a film.
