Disco stars to enter Hall of Fame

Summer teamed up with Moroder on dance hit Love To Love You Baby

Donna Summer, the Bee Gees and producer Giorgio Moroder will be among the first artists inducted into the inaugural Dance Music Hall of Fame.

They will be honoured alongside late singer Barry White and DJ Larry Levan at a New York ceremony on 20 September.

Recipients were chosen by a panel of 1,000 dance music professionals.

Thelma Houston and Evelyn "Champagne" King are set to perform Don't Leave Me This Way and Shame, among five songs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Donna Summer teamed up with producer Moroder in 1974 on groundbreaking disco hit Love To Love You Baby.

Moroder remixed the song into a 17-minute epic and ushered in the era of the extended dance remix.

They will be honoured alongside British writer and producer Pete Bellotte and fellow inductees at New York's Spirit club.

"Since the beginning, the dance music genre has been largely ignored and dismissed by most of the music industry press and other music industry professionals," said board member and Tommy Boy Entertainment founder Thomas Silverman.

"Through the Dance Music Hall of Fame we will be able to give proper credit to these great music industry pioneers."
