Madonna announces UK concert date
Madonna has recently concentrated on writing children's books
Singer Madonna is to play a London date on her forthcoming world tour, it has been announced.

She will play a show at London's Earl's Court venue on 18 August.

The superstar has already started rehearsals for the re-Invention Tour. A spokeswoman said: "She can't wait to get back on stage."

Madonna's last tour dates in the UK were in 2001. Tickets for the new show, which go on sale on Friday, will cost up to 150.

Writing career

The tour will begin in Los Angeles on 24 May before travelling around the US for more than two months.

Her shows in London and Paris are currently her only scheduled dates outside north America.

Over the past year, the singer has been concentrating on writing children's books, releasing The English Roses and Mr Peabody's Apples.

In 2003, she played a one-off show in London - in front of just 750 fans at the HMV store in Oxford Street. The concert was held to promote her American Life album.
