Pop Idol's Cowell joins Simpsons
Simon Cowell has harsh words for Maggie

Music executive Simon Cowell will make a guest appearance on US TV in The Simpsons on Sunday.

Cowell, who has judged on both the UK and US versions of talent show Pop Idol, plays a nursery school admissions officer who insults toddler applicants.

Cowell is well known for his acerbic comments on TV and will be seen making cruel jibes at the Simpsons' youngest child Maggie.

He also tells dad Homer: "You have the talent of a dolphin."

"It's the best thing I've ever been asked to do," Cowell said after recording the show.

Cowell will be seen wearing a T-shirt tucked into his infamous high-waisted trousers.

He is the latest in a long line of celebrities to appear the show, broadcast in the US on Fox.

Prime Minister Tony Blair made an appearance in the animated show last year. Other household names to have appeared as themselves in the show include U2, the Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, Leonard Nimoy, Mel Gibson and Sting.

The Simon Cowell episode will air in Sky One in the UK on 23 May.
