Turner to leave DIY makeover show
Lowri Turner
Turner will appear in a one-off edition of the show
TV presenter Lowri Turner is to leave the DIY SOS programme after eight series, the BBC has confirmed.

The broadcaster said Turner was leaving following a "mutual" agreement between her and the show's producers.

In future the primetime home improvement show will be fronted solely by her co-presenter Nick Knowles.

"Nick was always the main presenter and it was felt that he would be able to carry the show alone," a BBC spokeswoman said.

She said producers had felt it was time to change the format of the programme, and at the same time Turner had become involved in other projects.

Her first novel, Stripped Bare, published this year, tells of a woman who works on a DIY makeover show - leading to suggestions that it was based loosely on the programme.

Turner, 38, will make one further appearance in a one-off special of the show set in France to be broadcast next year.

Turner, the daughter of Welsh parents from Flintshire in north Wales, is the mother of two young children.

In January this year she was mugged as she walked along a road in north London with her baby son strapped to her.
