Theroux quits award-winning show
When Louis Met... Chris Eubank
Chris Eubank and Louis Theroux: But now celebrities are wary
TV star Louis Theroux is having to give up on his TV series When Louis Met... because he can no longer find any guests.

The BBC Two show is a fly-on-the-wall series showing Theroux spending time with celebrities.

Guests on the show have included former DJ and fundraiser Sir Jimmy Savile, former politician and wife Neil and Christine Hamilton and former boxer Chris Eubank.

But Theroux told BBC Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright on Wednesday that he could no longer find people prepared to go on the show.

"I feel I've gone as far as I can go with that. It is hard to get bookings. It's hard to get really A-list bookings," he told Wright.

The show, which has run for two years, has won him several awards, including the best presenter award at the Baftas for two years running.

The show has relied on Theroux's ability to be familiar with his subjects, while mocking them at the same time.

This, Theroux said, may have worked against him.

"I got quite a lot of flak from people for saying to Christine Hamilton 'oh come on Christine, this is me, I'm not a journalist, I'm a friend', which I thought was clearly an ironic remark and a lot of people said, 'that's terrible, to exploit your friendship in that way'," he said.

Since the last series of When Louis Met... he has been working on another celebrity documentary series, The Entertainers.

Theroux is the son of famous American travel writer Paul Theroux.
