Ant banned from driving
Ant and Dec at the National TV Awards
Ant McPartlin, left: "I've learnt my lesson"
TV presenter Ant McPartlin has been banned from driving after being clocked at 127mph by an unmarked police car, it has emerged.

McPartlin, 27, of Chiswick, west London, pleaded guilty to speeding and was banned from driving for 30 days and fined 350 when he appeared at Chester-le-Street Magistrates, Durham, on Monday.

McPartlin on his way to visit relatives in his Audi TT sports car on 27 July this year when he was pulled over by an unmarked police BMW on a 70mph stretch of the A1(M) in Co Durham.

A Durham Police spokesman said: "Even though it was a summer's evening, driving at 127mph is folly."

"It was silly and I have learnt my lesson," McPartlin said after the hearing.

McPartlin and his co-star Declan Donnelly, also 27, started their TV careers in 1989 in the hit TV teenage drama Byker Grove, and made ITV1's Saturday morning show SM:tv a ratings winner.

They scooped three prizes at the National TV Awards and were named most popular entertainment presenters.

ITV1's Pop Idol, which the pair presented, was named most popular entertainment programme.

The pair, who sang England's World Cup song We're On The Ball, also presented celebrity survivor show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
