Fugitive creator Huggins dies

Roy Huggins, the writer-producer who created some of TV's biggest hit shows, including Maverick and The Fugitive, has died at the 87, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Mr Huggins is said to have died of natural causes in Santa Monica, California.

His most successful series, The Fugitive, ran from 1963 to 1967 in the US and spawned a hit feature film in 1993 starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.

In the 1970s, Mr Huggins co-created the successful shows The Rockford Files and City of Angels.

Easyjet plans big-screen venture

Easyjet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou says he is planning to open his first cinema, which will be painted bright orange, in London later in the year.

A spokesman for the Greek millionaire said the company wanted to see its internet and car-hire operations breaking even before pressing ahead with the cinema idea.

However, the spokesman added, Easyjet was already in talks with estate agents to find a suitable site at a "central location".

Easyjet launched in November 1995, and Mr Haji-Ioannou is now worth 650m ($933m).

TV star Parker 'pregnant'

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and her actor husband Matthew Broderick are expecting their first child, according to reports in the US.

The New York Daily Post reports the actress, who is currently filming a new series of the hit show, is due to give birth in the autumn.

Broderick, 40, rose to fame in 1980s movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and recently stepped down from a role in hit Broadway play The Producers.

The fifth series of Sex and the City, which stars 37-year-old Parker as newspaper columnist Carrie Bradshaw, is due to start in the US in June.

Actors back Ground Zero campaign

Actors Harvey Keitel and Kevin Bacon have launched a scheme to encourage ordinary New Yorkers to have their say in the redevelopment of Ground Zero in New York.

The pair have been joined by Frasier actress Bebe Neuwirth, who played Lilith, and Yoko Ono in a series of adverts publicising the project entitled Imagine New York.

Public forums have been organised across the city to encourage people to come forward and discuss plans to rebuild Lower Manhattan and establish a permanent memorial for the World Trade Centre.

Stuntman killed during filming in Prague

An American stuntman has died in Prague, in the Czech Republic, during filming of a scene for Rob Cohen's new thriller, XXX.

Police spokesman Jan Holub refused to identify the 45-year-old man, who died when he crashed into a bridge while parasailing behind a boat in the Vlatva River in the city.

The "cause and all circumstances of the accident are being investigated by police", Holub said.

XXX is an urban spy thriller about an extreme-sports athlete recruited by authorities to infiltrate a crime ring.

Cohen started shooting the film last month.
