Uni and homes plans are shelved

Plans to build a university campus and 1500 homes on the outskirts of a Wiltshire town have been rejected.

Swindon Borough Council met to discuss what it would do if the final decision on the Coate Water development in Swindon remained with its members.

At least 50,000 people put their names to a petition against it and councillors agreed to oppose it.

A final decision will be made by the Planning Inspectorate which will take into account what has been decided.
