Roundhay Park cafe is hit by fire
Emergency services have been tackling a fire at a cafe beside a popular beauty spot in north Leeds.

Firefighters were called to the Lakeside Cafe at Roundhay Park on Saturday morning where they found the building heavily smoke-logged.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue official said around half of the building had been damaged by the fire.

Four crews using breathing apparatus tackled the incident. Fire experts have asked for the cafe to be boarded up.

A Leeds City Council spokesman said: "The fire has caused extensive damage to the cafe and as a safety precaution council officials will be boarding up the building and fencing off the entire area.

"During the next few days the fire brigade will be investigating the cause of the fire. The cafe will remain closed for the foreseeable future."
