Webcast for city election results

Birmingham City Council is to hold a television-style live results service after voting finishes in the local elections on Thursday.

The webcast will feature interviews and analysis and be hosted by former BBC political journalist Adrian Goldberg.

The city council is the largest local authority in Europe.

Its returning Officer and chief executive Stephen Hughes said the move aimed to keep pace with an "increasingly digital age".

He added: "Election night is one of the most important events in our entire year, the night when the citizens of Birmingham really have the power to have their say on how the council is performing and directly influence its future."
