Workers threatened with gun
B&Q store on Station Road, Stechford, Birmingham
A shot was fired inside the store
Workers at a DIY store were threatened with a gun in an attempted armed robbery during which shots were fired.

It happened at the B&Q store, on Station Road, Stechford, Birmingham, shortly before 1700 BST on Saturday.

Two men wearing hooded coats and balaclavas came into the store and threatened two cashiers.

West Midlands Police said the men failed to get any cash after a member of staff intervened and, as they left the store, one shot was fired inside it and three shots outside.

A force spokesman said three men arrived and left the store in a Volkswagen Passat car, which had been stolen from a pub in West Bromwich.

The vehicle was later set alight and abandoned and in a nearby recreation ground.

They drove away from there in a black BMW car.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
