Thieves steal rare breed of dog
Chocolate the dachshund
The dachshund, called Chocolate, was stolen from a farm
Thieves have stolen a rare breed of dog from a remote farm in County Durham.

The chocolate brown and tan long haired dachshund was taken from the farm in Evenwood, Bishop Auckland between on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

The two-year-old bitch, called Chocolate, is worth an estimated 2,000.

Some horse riding equipment was also taken during the theft and police are appealing or anyone with information to contact them.

The dog was taken from a stable at the farm, and three male dogs and a number of horses were in the stable at the time.

A police spokeswoman said: "The owners of the dog are very concerned for their pet's wellbeing.

"The farm is quite remote so it is likely that whoever took the dog used a vehicle."
