Blaydon Race creator dies at home
The man who created the Blaydon Race on Tyneside has been found dead at his home, only days after last week's annual road run.

Dr Jim Dewer launched the race in 1981, basing it around the lyrics of the famous North East song.

Last Wednesday more than 4,000 athletes took part in the 5.7 mile race from Newcastle to Blaydon.

Dr Dewar was also President of the Blaydon Harriers and leaves a widow and three adult sons.
