Cars hit runaway funeral horses
Two horses from a funeral cortege caused traffic chaos when they broke loose and were hit by two cars.

The procession was being assembled near Pinebrook, Suffolk, when they ran off along the southbound carriageway of the A12 at Copdock.

Chris Bacon Funeral Manager for Co-op East of England said the funeral was delayed but went ahead using motor vehicles instead.

Police said they did not know how badly hurt the horses were.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: "Our understanding is that while the cortege was being assembled the horses were startled and broke loose."

The horses were later recaptured by their owners and walked back up the A12 before being taken to their stables at Pegasus Horse and Carriages in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
