Go-ahead for controversial store
Plans for a controversial supermarket in a Suffolk town have been approved.

It has taken Tesco nearly two years to get the go-ahead for a store in Beccles because of wrangles over the design.

Tesco's plan was for a large glass and steele structure. The Beccles Society said it was not in keeping with the town and pushed for more brickwork.

After the two sides reached compromise on the design, the store has now been given planning permission to build on William Clowes' old print works site.
