An "unexploded bomb" which led police to cordon off part of Stoke-on-Trent was identified as part of a gas lamp.
An Army bomb disposal team was sent to Chatterley Road, Tunstall, to investigate after a member of the public spotted the object.
A spokesman said it was not in an "immediately residential area" and they had cordoned off the vicinity while the army examined the discovery.
The cordon was lifted later on Thursday when the harmless object was removed.
