Roadside checks target boy racers
A road check
More road checks will be carried out, the police have said
Two hundred drivers were stopped during a police crack down on drinking-driving and boy racers in East Sussex.

The operation ran for eight hours over two nights on Friday and Saturday in Eastbourne and resulted in five arrests for driving with excess alcohol.

A total of 142 breath tests were taken and over 500 worth of fixed penalty tickets were issued, most to boy racers for excess speed, police said.

A gathering of boy racers in Lottbridge Drive was also dispersed.

Chief Insp Peter Mills said: "Boy racers are a concern for many people in Eastbourne.

"We have already given more than 70 warnings to them this year and seized seven vehicles and their direct targeting will continue.

"Drink-driving is prevalent throughout the year, particularly at Christmas, and this sort of operation will continue on nights of our choosing throughout the holiday period."
