Fake clothing and DVDs were seized at the car boot sale
Drugs, counterfeit clothing and equipment used to produce fake DVDs was seized by police following a raid at a car boot fair in Polegate on Sunday.

Sussex Police said six people were arrested after more than 20 police and Trading Standards officers swooped on the Cophall Farm car boot fair.

The operation - targeting stolen and counterfeit goods - led to the seizure of more than 1,000 fake DVDs.

Equipment used to make DVDs was found at the homes of some of those arrested.

Drugs believed to be cannabis resin and cocaine with a street value of 20,000 were also found at an address in Eastbourne.

Air weapons

In addition to counterfeit DVDs of new releases like Troy and Harry Potter, The Prisoner of Azkaban, police said fake sunglasses and baseball caps were being sold at the fair.

They were also concerned about the sale of air weapons and ball bearings (BB) guns which, they warned, could have "devastating consequences" in the wrong hands.

Ch Insp Rex Matthews said: We were aware that a number of prolific criminals were using unsuspecting members of the public to buy stolen goods.

"We were also aware of a number of people who were selling counterfeit and prohibited goods who we believed to be involved in other crimes such as dealing drugs."
