A South Yorkshire colliery band has announced plans for a charity concert in aid of flood victims in the county.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band will stage a concert at Sheffield's Octagon Theatre on 6 September.

Earlier this month the band took top prize in the English National Brass Band Championship.

Band manager Terry Webster said: "The people of Yorkshire have assisted us in the past and this is our way of giving something back to the community."

All proceeds will go to the South Yorkshire Community Foundation (SYCF), a charity which is co-ordinating the flood relief across South Yorkshire.

Tickets, priced 10 each, are available on 01226 780981.
