Couple accused of hanging up baby
A couple accused of hanging their baby from a washing line and taking photos of it have been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty.

Staff at the Taunton branch of Morrisons alerted police when they saw the pictures, which had been brought in for development.

A spokesman for the supermarket chain said staff were encouraged to be "vigilant" in such issues.

Police said Somerset Social Services had been told of the alleged incident.

Police bail

"We reviewed the pictures and arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of causing child cruelty," said Avon and Somerset police spokesman Dan Mountain.

"Both were questioned by officers from the child abuse investigation team and were released on police bail pending further inquiries."

A Morrisons spokesman added: "Our store staff are encouraged to be vigilant of highly sensitive issues and have behaved entirely in accordance with company policy on this occasion."

A spokeswoman for Somerset Social Services said she could not comment on individual cases.
