'I'll refuse 2.8% rise', says MP

Mr Kawczynski wants MPs' pay to rise in line with the police
A Shropshire MP said he would refuse an above-inflation pay rise, recommended by the Senior Salaries Review Body.

Conservative Daniel Kawczynski, who represents Shrewsbury and Atcham, said a rise above 1.9% would be "totally inappropriate".

"I can't look into the eyes of my constituents who are police officers and say 'you will stick at 1.9% but I, as an MP, should have more than that'."

The body has recommended MPs get an above inflation pay rise of 2.8%
