Man arrested over stabbing attack

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Nottingham.

Stuart Lownds, 18, is said to remain in a critical condition following the attack on Teviot Road on the Bestwood Estate in the early hours of Saturday.

The arrested man, from Bestwood, is being interviewed by detectives.

Police are continuing house-to-house inquiries and examining CCTV. Officers cordoned off a second house in the Bestwood area on Sunday.

Forensic examinations are taking place at the property on Gainsford Crescent, although a cordon around a home on Teviot Road has been removed.

Police were called to the property on Teviot Road at about 0230 BST on Saturday, where they found Mr Lownds with stab wounds.

He was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) for treatment.
